Two-step verification is an optional feature that adds one more layer of security to your WhatsApp account using pin. This pin will be asked periodically to verify that WhatsApp is being used by authentic person.
Two-step verification registration needs email address as well so that you can reset your pin in case you forget it.
How to enable two-step verification settings-

The account isn’t completely deleted. Your contacts can still see your profile and send you messages, which will remain in a pending state for up to 30 days.
If you don’t activate your account within 30 days, it will be completely deleted.
